Mr. Frank Gallagher has recently been selected to be the new Director at Eastern State Hospital. He will begin this new position on Monday, March 30, 2015.
Over the past 27 plus years, Frank has provided innovative leadership for behavioral health organizations in Virginia, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the professional development of his staff, developing recovery oriented and person centered systems of care, ensuring clinical efficacy, and strengthening administrative operations. He most recently served as the Vice President for Behavioral Health Services at Sentara Healthcare where he provided operational oversight of four behavioral health programs, worked with nursing departments to establish new nursing skills and improve efficiency, and oversaw patient satisfaction teams for all Sentara behavioral health programs. During his time at Sentara, Frank also opened a 24 bed acute and geriatric behavioral health program at Virginia Beach General Hospital, which exceeded the budgeted census in the first year of operation. His previous leadership positions include Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center, Pines Residential Center, and Poplar Springs Hospital. He has served on the Virginia Governor’s Workgroup in Mental Health treatment services and was appointed to the Virginia Mental Health Commissioner’s Adult Behavioral Health Transformation Team in November 2014. Frank started his career as a mental health worker with the Portsmouth Psychiatric Center.
