Behavioral health services may include services for the prevention and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.

Local and State Human Rights Committees
The function of Human Rights Committees is to ensure due process for individuals who are receiving or have recently received a service licensed, funded, or operated by DBHDS.

Forensic Services
Forensic services include mental health evaluations and screenings, treatment of individuals with mental illness in jail, case management and restoration of competency to stand trial.
DBHDS develops programs and services for individuals at risk for involvement in the criminal justice system.
SVP Services
Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) services support the delivery of evaluation, treatment, and supervision services to individuals found by the court to meet the criteria of sexually violent predator.

VCU & Opioid Response Network: Training for Pregnant and Parenting Families in Recovery
The Opioid Response Network and VCU’s Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies are hosting a free training, “Communities In Recovery: Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Families”, for Peer Recovery Specialists to improve skills working with pregnant and postpartum clients on June 16th and 17th. APPLY for registration before MAY 22nd as space is limited.
