THANK YOU for your interest in volunteering at Western State Hospital! Due to the nature of the care delivered at the hospital, all volunteers are asked to take a few minutes to review the requirements and explore the steps involved in being a volunteer at WSH.
Requirements
- Be 16 years or older
- Pass a background check
- Pass drug test
- Submit completed volunteer application

Step 2: Submit Application

Step 3: Interview
Once your application has been reviewed, Tina Kincaid, Volunteer Services Director, will contact you for an interview. Please be aware that interviews generally take 15 minutes and enables the director to discuss your schedule and your interests.
Step 4: Orientation
If you are accepted into the WSH Volunteer Program, you will be invited to attend an orientation session. Orientations are approximately an hour long, and go over WSH and Volunteer Department policies, procedures and other important information.
Step 5: Screenings
After orientation, you will be required to complete criminal background and drug screening. For volunteers interested working sixteen (16) or more hours, a tuberculosis screening is required prior to volunteer service.
