Family, friends, and members of a resident’s support system are welcome to visit residents of VCBR.

All visitors must comply with the visitation security procedures and visitation rules. If a visitor displays actions that pose a threat to the security or treatment environment of the facility, the visit may be immediately terminated. In addition, limitations on the visitor’s access to the facility or a temporary or permanent restriction from VCBR grounds may be implemented.

Search Procedures for Visitation of Residents of VCBR

VCBR policy requires the search of an individual prior to the individual visiting a resident of VCBR. Search procedures may now include the use of a full body scanner.

Visitors that will not be required to submit to a search using a full body scanner are:

  • Persons under the age of 18
  • Pregnant women
  • Individuals currently (at the time of scan) receiving chemotherapy or radiation treatment for medical conditions or occupational exposure

The age of visitors is verified at the time of visit by the review of valid picture identification. For other identified reasons (pregnant or receiving chemo/radiation treatment), visitors may request a waiver to being searched using a full body scanner. The request must be in writing and addressed to the Facility Director of VCBR. The request must include a verifiable doctor’s order/note identifying the reason for the requested waiver (i.e., pregnant or currently recieving chemotherapy), and the expected duration of the condition that warrants a waiver (i.e., how long chemotherapy is expected to continue). The Facility Director will review the request and may grant a waiver. The Facility Director will communicate approval or denial of the requested waiver in writing to the requester. The visitor must have possession of the granted waiver (letter from Facility Director) when they visit VCBR.

For Additional information, please contact the VCBR Chief of Security.
