About us

Central State Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited inpatient facility located in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.

Central State has been providing quality care and treatment to the citizens of the Commonwealth since 1870.

Services

Central State Hospital provides civil inpatient psychiatric services to the Central Virginia area, as well as forensic maximum security inpatient psychiatric services to the entire Commonwealth. Our H.O.P.E. is that we provide a place of healing to support individuals’ recovery.
