Volunteers play an important role at Central State Hospital.
They embody hope and compassion, self empowerment and healing.
Volunteers enrich the lives of those suffering from mental illness by offering support, encouragement, a friendly visit, a listening ear.
There are many ways to volunteer at Central State Hospital.
We embrace individual volunteers as well as volunteer groups.
We are always looking for pet therapy volunteers and comforting visits from our canine friends!
We embrace those who are willing to share their musical, spiritual, artistic, literary and inspirational talents with us.
We also welcome donations and appreciate the opportunity to discuss both donation and volunteer needs.
All volunteer applicants must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate.
If you or your group is interested in volunteering at CSH, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Debra Broderick at 804-524-7388 or email inquiries to Debra.Broderick@dbhds.virginia.gov.

Thank you for your volunteer/donation consideration! We hope to hear from you!
