Referrals
All admissions must be pre-screened by the CSB in the person’s area of residence. An individual can either be pre-screened at an Emergency Services Department at any of the five CSBs or at an Emergency Room in one of our regional hospitals. A representative from the CSB will meet with an individual to assess him or her and to determine the need for admission. If the individual meets criteria to be psychiatrically hospitalized, then the bed search process begins. If a bed is not available at one of our regional hospitals, then contact is made by the CSB with NVMHI Admissions Department.

Upon arrival at NVMHI, every individual will be asked to adhere to our admissions process. This includes signing some admitting forms, having a photograph taken for identification purposes, and a meeting with various clinicians and disciplines to complete a series of assessments. Every individual is assigned a room and roommate, and will be provided with information regarding the hospital, the unit in which he/she will be residing, and information regarding the various types of treatment offered at NVMHI.
