Departmental Objective
The Infection & Prevention Control Department at SWVMHI, under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Executive and the Infection Control Committee, coordinates the Infection Control program according to TJC (The Joint Commission) requirements for hospitals and psychiatric facility standards, CDC guidelines, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.
Patient and staff education in matters of Infection Control practice and procedures are provided. Minimization of hospital associated infections are continued through surveillance, education, and monitoring. Employee heath and safety are promoted with collaboration with the Human Resources Department and our CommonHealth Program.
