As indicated in the Preamble to the NASW Code of Ethics, the primary mission the social work profession is to enhance human well-being and help meet basic human needs of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. The social work mission is rooted in a core of set of values. Those being: Service, Social Justice, Dignity and Worth of the Person, Importance of Human Relationships, Integrity, and Competence.

These values combined with the Mission and Values of Hiram W. Davis Medical Center set forth an environment of care, caring and compassion with the social work staff and individuals admitted. Social Work staff strives to empower each individual, regardless of their physical or mental challenges, to promote their own uniqueness with the strengths that they offer.

Our department consists of a Manager/Clinical Social Worker, fulltime Social Workers, and part-time Social Workers. We provide assessment; 1:1 counseling; interdisciplinary team participation; family counseling; collaboration with CSB Case Management; funeral service coordination; distribution of family surveys; discharge planning services to our residents, patients, and their Authorized Representatives or Legal Guardians whom we are delighted to serve!
