The Hiram Davis Medical Center’s Speech Therapy Department’s goal is to help restore our patient’s and resident’s to a prior level of functioning as much as possible after incidents such as strokes, brain injuries, debilitating illnesses and/or hospital stays.
The speech therapy department also assists in treating those with other types of ailments not directly related to speech. One of the major ailments would be dysphagia. The HDMC speech therapy department provides dysphagia treatment including weaning from tube feedings and establishing pleasure feedings. Along with that, HWDMC’s speech therapy department coordinates with local hospitals to provide videofluoroscopic studies, cognitive and speech/language therapy, and communication devices.
