Virginia’s Community Services Board (CSB) Performance Dashboard aggregates CSB context and performance data to assist in responding to data-related requests about the CSB system.

Important notes:
- DBHDS is in the midst of a significant data modernization project involving the frequency and detail of data exchanged with Virginia’s CSBs. As this modernization progresses, dashboard data sources, visualizations, or other details may change without notice.
- The dashboard represents the latest data DBHDS can produce across all visualizations. Outdated data systems across the Commonwealth make data reliability and validity an ongoing challenge. DBHDS will continue to revise the data as quality issues are identified and resolved. These data will improve in quality over time.

Here are some helpful hints for using the dashboard:
Orientation:
The Dashboard layout is consistent across all pages. Note the following highlights on each page:
- Chapter links across the top of each page for easy navigation between chapters – more about chapters below
- Global filters on the left side will filter all visuals on the page AND will remain in effect as you navigate to different pages
- Reset Filters in the bottom-left corner will reset all global filters to default
- More Information in the bottom-left corner contains helpful context for each individual page. This details the data source for each visual as well as additional context relating to each chapter.
- Help in the bottom-left corner will bring up an overlay showing various dashboard functionality
Chapter structure:
The dashboard is broken into five chapters, each with a different purpose:
- CSB Profile: Provides information about CSB catchment, regional groupings, and community peer groups
- Community Need: Provides commonly available data pertaining to social determinants of health aggregated to CSB catchment areas
- Finances: Provides financial data pertaining to state, local, and federal funding and expenditure across CSBs
- Operations: Provides workforce data across the CSB system
- Program Outcomes: Provides information about system outcomes, particularly focused around STEP-VA
