REVIVE! Training Information

Lay Rescuer Training

A lay rescuer is someone who has received training in offering essential first aid and medical care during emergency situations. These individuals are not medical professionals, but they have been educated to identify and address medical emergencies.

This training covers understanding opioids, how opioid overdoses happen, risk factors for opioid overdoses, and how to respond to an opioid overdose emergency with the administration of Naloxone.

If you would like to attend a REVIVE! Basic Lay Rescuer training, please contact your local health department or local Community Services Board (CSB) for upcoming trainings.

REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Awareness Modules

The REVIVE! modules focus on educating healthcare workers and community partners about the risks associated with opioid use and the critical role of naloxone in overdose situations. The modules cover key requirements for dispensing naloxone and provide essential guidance for individuals who administer naloxone, ensuring they are well-prepared to respond effectively in the event of an opioid overdose.

I have taken the Training of Trainers (TOT) training, what should I do next?

After completing the TOT training, you will receive a follow-up email including:

  • A link to the Training agreement
  • Training materials
  • Instructions on how to order kits and request a certificate

Upon receiving this email, please READ and SUBMIT the training agreement. This agreement must be submitted before an individual facilitates trainings and orders kits. Use the link provided to request your Certificate of Completion.

Please allow up to 30 days to receive your certificate, after the date of the request.

If you do not receive a follow-up email, please reach out to your trainer.

How do I become a Master Trainer?

To become a Master Trainer, you must be a certified trainer for at least six months and have led at least 12 full REVIVE! Lay Rescuer Trainings. The REVIVE! Health Education Specialist will then observe your training to certify you as a Master Trainer.

I completed the REVIVE! Training of Trainers training prior to 2021. Do I have to take the training again?

Yes, we encourage all trainers to take the TOT every two years to stay up to date with any changes and updates.

New training agreements were sent out to all trainers in August of 2022. If you didn’t receive the email and didn’t sign the agreement, you must participate in our Virtual TOT or attend any other Master Trainer’s TOT to sign agreement.

Where is my certificate?

The REVIVE! Coordinator receives hundreds of certificate requests per week. The requests are sorted through to ensure validity of each Trainer’s status, and then the certificate is generated and delivered via email.

Please allow up to thirty business days before inquiring about your certificate. The 30 days is from the date of the request, not the date of the training.

If you have submitted a certificate request with a training date from more than 2 years ago, you will not receive a certificate.

If you have submitted a request without a Trainer’s name, or the Trainer is not verified in our system (the Trainer does not have a training agreement on file), you will not receive a certificate.

I’m a trainer, why do I not receive REVIVE! Updates?

Once you have completed your REVIVE! TOT training, you should have received a follow-up email from your Master Trainer containing an agreement link.

Once the agreement is completed, you are added to the list of Trainers to receive emails, updates, etc.

If the Training agreement is NOT signed, you aren’t in our system as a Trainer and won’t receive updates.

New training agreements were sent out to all active Trainers in August 2022. If you didn’t receive the email and didn’t sign the agreement, you must participate in DBHDS Virtual TOT or attend any other REVIVE! Master Trainer’s TOT to sign this agreement.

Why isn’t the Training Agreement on the REVIVE! website?

We want to ensure that only those who have been properly trained to teach REVIVE! are in the database as trainers.

Placing this document on the REVIVE! website gives access to those who haven’t been properly trained and may not be able to deliver materials effectively.

Why is signing a Training Agreement important?

The training agreement is important because it outlines the expectations for trainers. Signing it means you understand the guidelines for becoming a trainer. Many common questions are addressed in the agreement, which also helps prevent the loss of training privileges.
