In collaboration with state and community partners, DBHDS plans, develops, directs, funds, and monitors the delivery of comprehensive behavioral health services throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Behavioral health services may include services for the prevention and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.

DBHDS works with partners across Virginia to develop and maintain the Commonwealth’s continuum of crisis care, by ensuring that there is always someone to call, someone to respond, and somewhere to go.

Forensic Services
Forensic services include mental health evaluations and screenings, treatment of individuals with mental illness in jail, case management and restoration of competency to stand trial.
DBHDS develops programs and services for individuals at risk for involvement in the criminal justice system.
SVP Services
Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) services support the delivery of evaluation, treatment, and supervision services to individuals found by the court to meet the criteria of sexually violent predator.

Training from 8/17 to 9/3: M, T, Th 9am to 5:15pm. Join Cory, an experienced trainer, in a highly interactive and engaging PRS training where you will be able to learn and practice skills throughout the sessions. Come prepared to participate! Instruction is facilitated virtually utilizing the zoom platform. Training includes presentations, videos, engaging discussion, small group work, scenario-based activities, and student led demonstrations. All applicants must be interviewed prior to approval. Payment due once accepted, there are payment plans available, there are no scholarships for this training. Technical requirements include attending all sessions; using a laptop, Chromebook, iPad Pro, or Microsoft Surface; high speed internet; ability to use Zoom and access Microsoft OneDrive. All materials will be available digitally. The training fee is non-refundable.
